The Pain Habit Method
“Life-changing experience that helps you challenge your beliefs, emotions and behaviours to remove persistent pain from your life.”
You have the ability within yourself to make this change. You do this not me. Once you realise this was never your fault and you developed the habit causing your pain without realising it, you have opportunity to change should you choose to. Because of how you viewed your pain you never thought you had control of it. There is no blame attached. The emphasis for you now is responsibility. If you're ready to make the change and take responsibility for that, then I can help you do it.
A method created by a physiotherapist who strives to make his patients’ lives better.
The Motivation
The Pain Habit idea developed from my work as a physiotherapist and is an offshoot since working more with patients in chronic or persistent pain, using neuroscience and behaviour change principles, over the past three years.
My motivation is to share this information with a wider audience of both patients and therapists. I have written a book that will be published soon, am developing a website and deliver training and talks on the subject. I currently do this work under my physiotherapy business but want to give it a separate identity and brand in its own right.
The results of this approach are truly magical. There is a gap in the market for a brand which delivers complicated information about persistent pain in an easily understandable and professional way. the problem of persistent pain is so large that it could help so many people.
About Me
The puzzle of persistent pain continued to intrigue me, after over 20 years of experience in treating patients with musculoskeletal conditions. Working in the NHS, private practice, and as a university guest lecturer at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, I always felt that more could be done for this patient group.
My special interest in persistent pain involves writing, research, clinical practice, and training therapists across the world on the subject. It easy to be passionate about teaching patients and therapists how and why persistent pain develops and how to reverse the habits that have created that pain. I’m currently involved in research with Teesside University investigating these techniques to add to the growing body of work in this field
I work in private practice in my hometown, Stockton-on-Tees, in the Northeast of England.
I’m married to Jenny and have four children, Chloe, Ben, Jacob, and Sam. I’d like to be seen as an all-around family man, and in any spare time, I enjoy playing the piano and snowboarding (slowly!) holidays.
What We’ve Achieved
Developed techniques using current neuroscience to make real change is a persons experience of pain.
Blended elements of how a person thinks, breathes, moves and feels together, to create momentum on their journey to recovery.
Given patients responsibility for their pain free existence.
Grown a community of those who had success with The Pain Habit and want to share it.
Tapped into simple, easily accessible mechanisms that anyone can use.
Inverted the process of recovery by feeling better first, rather than needing the pain gone to feel better.
Used behaviour change principles to make recovery from pain a process of habit.
Provided tools for therapists to guide patients who need support.
